Tour Details

The Ngong Hills Hiking Tour starts from Nairobi depending on your hotel and flight schedules. From the hotel, we shall drive to the base of Ngong Hills, where the hike will take place. We shall enjoy hiking all the peaks that form a series along the mountain and our guides will help you learn about the history of the place.

This majestic mountain range spans the western end of Nairobi. It is famous in many historical works, including Karen Blixen’s film “Out of Africa”. Her lover Denys Finch Hatton was buried along the hills and the story was that Karen could see the gravesite from her house. The peak of the Ngong Hills lies at 2,460m. This exciting hiking tour will help you unlock this and many more fascinating features of the legendary Ngong Hills.

Later in the afternoon, we shall drive back to your hotel; marking the end of our lovely Ngong Hills Hiking Tour.

We drive along Ngong Road going past Dagoretti Corner, Karen and Ngong Town to reach Ngong Police Station from where we get an armed escort (Ranger) from the Kenya Wildlife Services and also a local guide.

The sharp spine of the Ngong Hills stretches for 11.5 kilometers and takes about 5-6 hours (without long rest breaks) to walk from end to end. The hike up Ngong Hills starts right from Ngong town at the northern foot of the hills 1961m above sea level, and traverses the whole range to the southern end at “Kona Baridi” meaning cold corner.
